After the first on-field activity referred to the snowpack (April 2022) the experimental activities of the project ICEtoFLUX (MUR/PRA2021 project-0027) are fully developing with the first campaign of 2022’s Arctic melt season. IGG and ISP researchers are operating at Ny-Ålesund-Svalbard (Base Dirigibile Italia) in flowrate measurements of the main glacial drainages of the Bayelva River catchment and in sampling of meltwater and fjord water to be analyzed in terms of isotopes signature, inorganic and organic chemistry and microbiology.
These activities will contribute to better understand hydrological processes in the arctic environment deeply impacted by climate change.
