Ny-Alesund – Meeting with Svalbard Course participants held at the Bayelva Bridge, where NVE and IGG have their monitoring stations (https://nyalesundresearch.no/2022/08/visit-from-the-svalbard-course-in-ny-alesund/).

Harald Steen, director of science in the Norwegian Polar Institute, introduced Ilaria Baneschi and the director of NVE, who outlined their activities and those in collaboration with IGG. Ilaria illustrated the continuous monitoring activities that are being carried out on the Bayelva thanks to the collaboration with NVE, which since this year has become more solid with the exchange of data, comparison of measurements and integration of instrumentations. These activities are part of the ICEtoFLUX (PRA2021) study project on the dynamics of ice melt, the understanding of the processes, and the quantification of water and material flows.

The meeting was an important sign of interest and an excellent recognition of Italian activities in the Arctic.
